The past few months have seen a flourish of activity over on Oma and Opa’s side of the Village. Demolition of the old horse barn that sat upon the site of their new home has been completed, and Opa has constructed a pad-site in its place!
Here are a few progress photos of the barn un-raising, completed by Opa and Kenny, with assistance from Oma pulling nails so that all of the old wood could be salvaged and re-purposed.
The tin and posts from the horse barn were also re-purposed into a roof to cover the temporary storage area that will house Opa’s equipment and materials during the homebuilding process.
Once the barn was down, Opa went to work building the pad-site, and after several good rains, the pad-site is nicely compacted and ready for a foundation!
Opa and Oma have hired a contractor to do the foundation work and to build a metal building that will be the base of their house. Work on the foundation is set to begin this week. Exciting times at the Village!
